Product details

A central vacuum power unit only proves itself once the tubing runs get long, and the VacuMaid SR60 is built for exactly that situation. This filtered power unit delivers up to 713 air watts from an 8.4-inch 2-stage tangential bypass motor and is rated to serve homes up to 12,000 square feet, the range where undersized units start to lose pickup at the far end of the system.

Filtered central vacuums like the SR60 collect debris in a canister with a permanent filter rather than a disposable bag, so day-to-day operation comes down to emptying the canister and periodically cleaning the filter media instead of restocking bags. Air watts is the industry measure that combines airflow and vacuum level into one number, and a higher figure matters most in larger homes, where suction has to travel through more feet of pipe and more elbows before it reaches the cleaning head.

Power units mount away from living space, typically in a garage, basement, or utility room, with PVC tubing running behind walls to the inlet valves used throughout the house. Sizing the unit to the square footage of the home, not just the number of inlets, is what keeps suction consistent at every valve rather than strong near the unit and weak at the far bedroom.

Choosing the right power unit for a home this large comes down to more than a single spec sheet number: total tubing length, the number of inlet valves, and how many floors the system has to serve all affect how a given air watts rating performs once it is installed. A qualified installer sizing a system for 12,000 square feet typically plans the tubing layout around the power unit’s rated capacity rather than guessing at it after the fact.
