When the clean-air motor fails in a 40 Series Tandem Air upright, order D386-2700. The assembly covers the Riccar R40 and the Simplicity S40 and arrives built up and ready to drop in place, not as a bare motor needing its own housing.

A clean-air design pulls its cooling air after the dirt stream has already passed through the bag, which is why the fan sits downstream rather than in the path of incoming debris. If pickup is weak with a fresh bag installed and the belt confirmed sound, the motor itself is the more likely suspect over filtration.
