Product details
A ninety degree sweep elbow redirects a central vacuum's PVC tubing run a full quarter turn without resorting to a sharp corner, and that wide, gradual bend is what separates a sweep fitting from an ordinary right-angle joint.
The wide radius earns its keep because dirt and debris are moving fast when they hit a bend, and a broad curve lets that material ride around the turn rather than smack into a tight corner, which is usually where a clog first takes hold on a long run. As with every fitting in the system, this joint has to be airtight, since one leaking connection is felt as weaker suction at every inlet sharing that run.
This is the Plastiflex SV8042, confirmed compatible with the Sirena 6201 central vacuum system. Cement the joints with solvent cement made for vacuum-grade PVC fittings, and dry-fit the full run of pipe and fittings before cementing any joint permanently.
A sweep elbow takes up noticeably more physical space inside a wall or joist bay than a short-radius fitting does, so measure the cavity before committing to this part for a tight corner. Where the framing genuinely will not allow the wider sweep, a compact elbow is the right substitute, but the sweep design is the better choice for airflow anywhere the space allows it. Test-fit the fitting in the framing cavity dry, before cutting your tubing to final length, so a tight space is caught while there is still room to adjust the layout.
