Product details
Part 1608236 is the bottom plate that closes off the underside of the nozzle on Bissell's PowerForce 1700 series. It fits the PowerForce 1700, the PowerForce 2191, and the 1739 and 1739R.
Bolted to the underside, this plate forms a closed channel around the spinning brush and takes the brunt of every threshold ridge and door saddle the machine rolls over. Cracks form at the mounting tabs first, since that is where the plastic flexes each time the nozzle bottoms out on a rug edge, and the tabs at the front corners take the worst of it because that is where the nozzle first makes contact when the machine tips forward off a stair or a raised transition strip. Once a tab lets go, air pulls in from the side instead of through the brush chamber, and the vacuum starts leaving fine debris behind even though the motor sounds the same as always.
The tell is a machine that still pulls hard through the hose and tools but has gone soft at the floor, since that split points at the nozzle seal rather than the motor or filters. Lay the old plate next to the new one before fitting it, since a plate that has warped even slightly will show a visible gap along one edge when set on a flat surface, and that gap is enough on its own to explain a suction drop even without a cracked tab. The new plate fits the same mounting posts as the old one, no cutting or trimming needed.
