Product details
The carriage assembly is the wheeled base under a Bissell CleanView upright, the piece that lets the whole machine roll and pivot as you push it. Part 1616187 is the replacement, also carried under the number 2739.
Wobbling on hard floors, a drag toward one corner, or a machine that suddenly takes real muscle to push are all signs the wheels or the carriage frame underneath them have given out. Because the carriage carries the full weight of the machine and a loaded dirt tank, wear here compounds quickly once it starts, and a slight lean in the frame can turn into a wheel that drags rather than rolls within a few weeks of first showing symptoms.
Push the machine on a smooth floor with the power off and watch the front corners rather than the handle. A carriage that has developed play will let one corner dip or twist slightly with every stride, which is easier to see at walking pace on tile than it is to feel through the handle on carpet. That small twist is also what wears the wheel bushings unevenly, so a carriage swapped early tends to save the wheels along with itself.
It fits the Bissell 2252, 2253, 2254, 2255, 2256, 2258, 2259, 2259C, 2260, 2316 and 2316C, along with the 3197A, 3198, 3198A, 3332, 3333, 3534, 3675 and 3676. Replacing the whole carriage rather than a single wheel is what restores straight, even tracking.
