Product details

A cup that keeps hazing over right after you empty and wipe it, or one that puffs dust back at you during emptying, usually comes down to one component: the clear cone-and-grille piece mounted inside a bagless Bissell PowerForce Helix. Part 2038057 replaces it.

Its job is to whirl the air pulled in from the floor fast enough that debris flings outward and settles out before that air ever meets the filter. Any deformation in the ribs or the cone's shape throws that spin pattern off without stopping it altogether, so a damaged unit tends to show up as a slow decline in separation rather than a sudden, obvious break. Because of that gradual slide, the filter downstream often gets blamed and swapped out first, when this piece upstream is actually the one overloading it.

Being molded from clear plastic works in favor of finding the fault yourself: hold the cup up to a window and even a hairline split reads as a bright, distinct line against the light, well before it would be obvious just by looking at the assembled machine.

Coverage runs across the PowerForce Helix bagless line, meaning the 12B1 and 1240, the Turbo version sold as the 68C7, the 2140, and the 98N4 PowerGroom Helix Rewind. Match the number stamped near where the handle mounts before placing an order.

  • Part: 2038057, cyclone assembly
  • Fits: Bissell 12B1, 1240, 68C7, 2140, 98N4
  • Function: spins incoming airflow to fling out debris before it reaches the filter
  • Replace when: the cup hazes with fine dust or leaks dust when emptied
  • Check first: hold the cup to a window; a hairline split shows as a bright line in the clear plastic
