This is the brush roll for the Bissell 2102B stick vacuum, part 1607249. It runs the width of the floor head and is what sweeps debris into the suction path on carpet and hard floors alike.
Stick vacuums live close to the floor, so their brush rolls take on hair and thread constantly. The bristles flatten, the roller picks up less on each pass, and wrapped hair binds the ends until the brush stalls under load. You usually hear it before you see it, as a change in pitch when the head meets carpet, or spot a strip of dirt left behind down the middle of the head.
Cut wrapped hair away with scissors rather than pulling it through, and check the ends turn freely once the new roller is in. Confirm the model number on the body of the machine before ordering.
