This tangle-free brush roll replaces part 1608856 on Bissell's Pet Hair Eraser upright line, covering the 16501, 16502, 16508, 1650A, 1650C, 1650P, 1650R and 1650W variants of the 1650 series.
Bissell lists this one as a tangle-free roller, and that is the reason to fit it rather than a plain replacement on a machine used in a house with a shedding pet. Hair still reaches the roller, but it is far less likely to end up as the tight rope at each end that has to be cut away before the roll will turn freely again.
Even a tangle-free roller eventually mats down. Check for hair and thread packed tightly enough at the ends to restrict rotation, and for bristles that have flattened past the point of making good contact with carpet fiber. Either is reason enough to replace it rather than clear it out again.
Confirm your machine falls in the 1650 series before ordering, since Bissell brush rolls are not universal across its upright lines, and a roller sized for a different series will not seat correctly. One that looks close but is not quite right will bind against the sole plate or fail to spin freely once fitted.
