Bissell Front Brush Roll As...

Product details
Part 2011187 is the coarse-bristle roller fitted at the leading edge of Bissell's Natural Sweep carpet sweeper, listed in the parts catalogue as the front brush.
A sweeper picks up what its bristle tips can flick off the floor, so the condition of this roller decides how well the machine works. Once the bristle row flattens or curls under, crumbs and grit get pushed along ahead of the sweeper instead of being lifted, and a hallway that used to clear in one push takes three or four passes to look done.
Wound hair and thread produce the identical symptom while the bristles underneath are still perfectly good, so unwind the roller by hand first rather than ordering a replacement on sight. Only once it spins freely and clean, and still drags a visible line of debris across low-pile carpet, is the bristle set itself the actual problem.
Turn the new roller by hand before the machine is closed back up and confirm it spins freely without rubbing at either end. A roller that binds when it is first fitted will not free itself in use, and it is far easier to reseat while everything is still apart than after the sweeper has gone back together.
