Product details

Standard brush roll for the Kirby Generation 3 and Generation 4, part 156294S. This is the roller the machines were built with, full bristle rows for firm carpet agitation, not the wider-spaced pet version.

Rolls on machines of this age have often been in service for years, and the wear is easy to underestimate. Bristles shorten by a fraction of an inch and stop reaching into the pile, so the vacuum still sounds strong and still picks up surface litter while leaving ground-in dirt exactly where it was. Uneven wear shows as a strip of carpet that comes up better than the rest.

Compare the bristle length in the middle of the roll against the ends, where wear is lightest. If the middle is visibly shorter, it is done. Generation 3 and 4 fitment.
