Two soft-filament rollers supplied together: 5290GE renews the complete brush set in a SEBO AUTOMATIC X2, AUTOMATIC X5 or AUTOMATIC X8 head in a single order.
It is the gentle-bristle counterpart to the standard 5290AM set, and the reason to choose it is the flooring rather than the machine. Wool, loop pile, fine rugs and polished hard floors all take a softer brush better over the long run, where a firm filament can fuzz delicate yarn season after season. The agitation is still there — soft rows knock dust out of the pile perfectly well — it simply arrives with less scrubbing at the surface of the weave.
Changing both rollers at once keeps the agitation even across the width of the head, which a mismatched pair of one new and one worn roller cannot manage. While the head is open, clear the hair wound at the roller ends and look over the drive: 5110 is the belt fitted to the AUTOMATIC X2, X5 and X8, and a glazed or stretched belt will let new rollers slip just as the old ones did. Where only the outer roller has worn, the soft edge roller on its own is 5250GE.
Bristle height is the measure to judge by. Once the rows sit flush with the roller body they are riding on the carpet rather than reaching into it, and the machine will sound exactly as it always has while lifting steadily less. Cut away hair wound at the roller ends before fitting, since the tightest wraps sit where the roller meets its bearing and will chew a new set as readily as they chewed the old one.
