A canister spends its working life colliding gently with things — architraves, chair legs, the skirting along a hallway — and the bumper arrives first at every one of them. 8237ER is the replacement for that component on the AIRBELT E body, supplied as genuine factory stock and listed by SEBO for the AIRBELT E1 KOMBI, the AIRBELT E2 TURBO and the AIRBELT E3 Premium.
It is the padded core of the AIRBELT, working underneath the fabric stretched over it; in solid gray black that textile is 8221AM01, which SEBO lists for the same three canisters. The two wear at different rates, which is why they carry separate numbers. Fabric frays at the corners years before the bumper below gives up, while the bumper itself hardens, then splits, and eventually creeps out of the channel retaining it against the body. After that every impact is delivered straight into the housing, so the machine both stops protecting your furniture and starts accumulating marks of its own.
Renewing it is a quick way to make a hard-worked canister present as looked-after, and the part is genuinely protective rather than decorative. Run a hand along the full length before deciding — a strip can look intact head-on while having lifted out of its channel down one side, which is enough to let it catch and drag.
