This carpet glider replaces the tray that fits beneath a Bissell Symphony or Symphony Pet steam mop, part number 1603730. It sets over the steam pad on the mop head, giving the machine a smooth surface to move across carpet instead of catching on the pile.
Once the glider cracks or warps, steam leaks out around its edges rather than passing through the pad, and the mop ends up sliding across the carpet surface without lifting much dirt. Warping comes from repeated heat exposure, so a glider that no longer lies flat on a level surface has usually reached the end of its usable life.
