Koblenz Carpet Shampoo - 32 oz

Product details

A 32 ounce bottle of Koblenz carpet shampoo concentrate, part 20-0529-6, made for use in Koblenz shampooers and similar carpet cleaning machines rather than for spraying straight from the bottle.

Dilute it to the ratio printed on the label rather than guessing at a stronger mix. Shampoo left too concentrated does not clean any better, it just leaves more residue behind in the pile once the carpet dries, and residue is exactly what attracts new soil and makes a freshly cleaned carpet look dingy again within a week or two. Mixing it too thin has the opposite problem: the machine runs through more solution to lift the same amount of dirt, and the carpet takes longer to dry as a result.

Vacuum the carpet thoroughly before you shampoo it. The machine and the chemical are built to lift soil that has worked its way down into the fibers, and loose surface grit just turns to mud once it gets wet. Work in manageable sections rather than the whole room at once, and give each pass time to work before extracting. Give the carpet time to dry completely and keep foot traffic off it until it does, since a carpet that is only surface dry will re-soil almost immediately. Cracking a window or running a fan while the carpet dries shortens the wait and lowers the odds of the mustiness that comes from carpet left damp for too long.
