Castors mount into the bottom casing at item 1, a casing SEBO supplies with its castors already installed, and they carry the machine's weight through every turn the hose puts it through. Grit migrates into the swivel over the years and dries out whatever lubrication is left, until the castor locks at an angle. From then on it ploughs rather than rolls: the canister drags against the pull, tips when the hose is snatched round a corner, and scores the floor it stands on. A castor that swivels freely lets the canister follow the hose again.
