This 36-inch length of wire-reinforced flexible tubing, part 06-1201-09, is built for standard 2-inch central vacuum pipe. Straight sections of a central vacuum line stay rigid, but nearly every installation needs at least one bend that a fixed elbow simply cannot make, tucked around a floor joist, beside HVAC ductwork, or squeezed through a tight mechanical chase, and this tubing flexes through exactly that kind of obstacle without adding extra fittings to the run.
The internal wire is what separates this from a length of plain hose. It keeps the tubing walls from collapsing under the system's own suction as it flexes through a tight bend, so airflow stays open through the turn instead of narrowing at exactly the point where the pipe changes shape and needs it most.
Installers reach for a length like this most often at the connection between the trunk line and the power unit, or wherever a branch has to snake through tight framing that a rigid elbow can't navigate.
