Base frames are model-specific, so check the part number against the machine before ordering. 52196GS is the gray black chassis specified for the SEBO AUTOMATIC X8.
It ships without a bumper, though the felt strip and the housing buffer are fitted before it leaves the factory, which puts the rebuild a step ahead. Those are real parts with numbers of their own — SEBO lists the felt strip that seals between chassis and swivel neck as 52052, and the buffer that damps the motor cover against the housing as 52112, both catalogued for this machine. Having them already mounted saves two fiddly operations at the point in the job where access is worst.
The chassis is what fixes the motor, brush roll and wheels in position relative to one another. Once it has cracked or twisted, those components run at a slight angle to each other and the machine turns noisy long before anything else actually fails: belts wander and wear on one edge, bristles thin unevenly across the roller, and the vacuum starts pulling to one side under its own power. None of that is fixed by replacing the parts that are visibly worn, because the frame is what put them out of line. Reuse the bumper from the old frame when you transfer the internals across.
A chassis swap is a strip-down, so treat it as the moment to renew whatever else is close to the end of its life. With the frame bare you have clear access to the wheel and axle 52102GS, the pile adjustment wheel 5174GS and its rubbing plate 5155GS, and the left-hand bearing block 52121 at the end of the brush roll. Doing those at the same time costs one dismantling job rather than three.
