Direct-connect wiring means the hose plugs its electrical contacts straight into the wall inlet itself, so seating the cuff and engaging that inlet is what starts the powerhead's brush spinning, with no separate cord to find and plug in the way a pigtail hose requires. Once it is running, the ET-1's motorized brush roll works embedded dirt and pet hair up out of carpet fibers that suction alone would leave behind, and its adjustable height setting lets it move between carpet and sealed hard floors.

Confirm your wall inlets are wired for direct-connect power before ordering, since direct-connect, low-voltage and dual-voltage pigtail hoses use different wiring at the inlet and are not interchangeable with each other. If a powerhead already on your system has stopped spinning while suction still pulls fine, that generally points to wear inside the powerhead itself rather than the hose, and it is worth checking the powerhead separately before assuming a whole kit needs replacing.
