Eureka's Mighty Mite canisters take a reusable cloth bag in the Style MM fitting, part 39633, built for the 3673 Mighty Mite line. Running cloth instead of paper changes the ongoing cost of a machine used often: empty the shell, tap out the dust, and refit it rather than buying a fresh paper bag every few weeks, which adds up considerably over the working life of a canister pulled out regularly.
The trade-off shows up at emptying time, since shaking loose dust back out releases some of it into the surrounding air, making a garage or workshop a better home for this setup than a bedroom or any room used for sleeping. Cloth care looks nothing like paper-bag care though. The fabric weave is doing the actual filtering, so as fine dust works its way into that weave the pores gradually seal shut and airflow falls off well before the bag looks anywhere near full by volume.
When suction weakens even though the bag is nowhere near capacity, cleaning the cloth itself is usually the fix rather than simply emptying it again, since the bag has done its job of trapping dust in the fabric but has simply loaded up beyond what it can still pass air through. Look over the collar fit and the stitched seams as well, since an open seam lets dirt bypass the fabric entirely and return straight to the room air instead of staying trapped inside.
A cloth bag that gets rinsed and fully dried on a regular schedule will outlast one that only ever gets shaken out, since fine dust that never gets washed clear eventually stops coming loose no matter how hard the bag is shaken.
