Part 70069 is the slide vent for Compact and TriStar power nozzles - the small sliding gate on the nozzle that bleeds air into the head, letting you take suction off when the floor calls for it.

You feel this one fail rather than see it. When the slider cracks, jams with grit, or falls out altogether, the vent is stuck at whatever setting it died in: shut, and the nozzle grips thick carpet hard enough to be a fight to push; open, and it never really seals down on a rug. Either way the adjustment you used to have is gone, and the head starts feeling wrong on every surface.

The replacement fits in place of the worn part and puts that control back, so the nozzle can run light on deep pile and sealed down on low pile and bare floors.
