The Optima Plus is a central vacuum built by Power Star, and part ELECIR901 is its replacement control module, covering units made after 2010. Every wall inlet in the system sends its start signal to this one board, which reads that low-voltage signal and switches the higher-voltage circuit that spins up the motor.
A dying board rarely quits all at once. The earlier warning signs tend to be small: the unit needs the hose plugged and unplugged twice before it fires, it hesitates a beat longer than usual, or it runs fine for a stretch and then cuts out once the motor comes under real load. Those same symptoms can look like a tired motor from the outside, which is exactly why a working motor sometimes gets swapped out first while the actual fault sits on this board.
