A cup washer for the latch assembly on the Hoover Dial-A-Matic, part 162005AY. It is the dished washer that sits under the latch hardware, spreading the clamping load across the plastic and setting the standoff the latch works at.
It looks like nothing, and it is exactly the part that gets lost during a repair. Without it the fastener draws down too far or bears on too small an area, and the latch either binds or sits slack. From the outside that reads as a cover that will not click shut, pops open in use, or needs a shove in one particular spot to catch.
This washer fits the Hoover 7019 Dial-A-Matic latch assembly and goes back in its original position under the latch hardware. Keep it with its fastener during any strip-down so the assembly goes back together at the right spacing.
