Dirt Devil Fork Bolt - All ...

Product details
Every time a Royal or Dirt Devil upright, including the Dirt Devil 089000, gets pushed forward, pulled back, or tipped onto its wheels, the load passes through a single bolt joining the handle fork to the machine body, and that bolt is part 1801708000.
Once it loosens, the connection it was holding tight starts to give, and the handle picks up play that shows up as a wobble whenever the machine is steered. That looseness tends to grow rather than stay constant, because the ongoing movement wears away at both the fork itself and the mount surrounding it on the body, gradually turning what would have been a cheap hardware swap into a more involved repair job. In the worst case, a bolt that has worked all the way loose and dropped out leaves the handle with nothing supporting it at all, so it simply flops when the machine is picked up or tipped back.
Getting the correct bolt matters more than it might seem, since thread pitch and seating depth control how it seats. A close-but-wrong substitute from a hardware store either bottoms out before it is fully tight or bites into the fork threads as it is driven home.
- Part: 1801708000 handle fork bolt
- Fits: Dirt Devil 089000 and Royal upright models sharing the same fork mount
- Function: fastens the handle fork to the machine body
- Sign of wear: a loose, wobbling handle and imprecise steering
Verify your Royal or Dirt Devil model number before ordering, since fork mounts differ enough across the lineup that not every bolt of this size will seat correctly.
