Panasonic Dirt Sensor-MC685...

Product details
Panasonic built the MC-6855 and MC-6955 with a dirt sensor that reads the debris moving through the airflow path and drives the indicator on the machine, so you can see whether a patch of carpet is actually clean or still giving up dirt. Part AC87GZAZ00 is the replacement sensor for those two models.
When the sensor goes, the indicator is the first thing to misbehave. It flickers on clean floor, stays dark over an obviously dirty rug, or simply stops responding. Suction is unaffected, which is what makes the fault confusing: the vacuum works, but the feedback you have been using to judge your passes is gone.
The new sensor drops into the same position as the original, with no change to the airflow path. Check the model number on your machine before ordering, as this one is specific to the MC-6855 and MC-6955.
