This Perfect Fit Hoses assembly is built for the Dyson DC27 and the DC28 uprights alike, replacing the flexible reach hose that carries airflow to the wand during above-floor cleaning. Because the same hose serves both models, a crack or a perished cuff on either machine produces the same result: weak tool suction and an audible leak at the joint.
These hoses tend to fail at the cuffs first, where the material is thinnest and takes the most flexing as the hose is pulled out and retracted. Once the seal there breaks down, suction at the crevice tool or upholstery nozzle drops noticeably even though the machine sounds and runs normally otherwise.
A quick test is to run the vacuum with the wand attached and listen along the hose length while gently flexing it near each cuff; a change in suction sound at one spot usually marks where the seal has failed.
