Ordering by colour alone gets people into trouble with these heads, so start with the family. 9958AM is an ET-2, the wider of SEBO's two driven floor heads, finished in black and built with an on/off control on the head itself.

The brush roll is turned by a motor carried inside the housing, which is what separates a power head from a plain suction floor tool once there is carpet under it. A rocker on the head means the roller can be stopped without touching the machine, useful the moment you cross onto a hard floor or a rug that would otherwise be dragged along. Consumables tell the two families apart at a glance: the ET-2 takes the 15-inch brush roller 2838AM, or 2838GE in soft bristle, where an ET-1 takes a 12-inch roller, so a parts receipt for the old machine is often the fastest way to confirm which you have.

The same ET-2 body is produced in red as 9250AM and in white as 9259AM, and 9251AM is the black one with no control at all, so check what the old head carried before ordering.
