Product details

The brush roll is the part of a Eureka VGI upright that does the actual digging. This 12-inch all-bristle roller, part 54555, spins under the nozzle and rakes the carpet pile so trapped grit and pet hair break loose where the airflow can carry them off. It comes as a complete assembly, bristle strips, shaft and end caps together.

Worn bristles are easy to miss because nothing breaks. The vacuum simply stops picking up the way it used to, and the carpet keeps looking dull right after a pass. Lay a straightedge across the roller: if the bristles no longer stand proud of the shaft, they have flattened past the point where cleaning them helps. Hair and thread wound around the ends do the same job of killing agitation and are worth clearing every month or so.

This roller fits the Eureka VGI and the Eureka 3422.
