Product details
The agitator housing is the black shell around the brush roll on a Bernina 6100. It holds the roll in alignment and channels the airflow across it. Evolution part 01-7803-62.
Housings crack from the knocks a machine takes at floor level, and a cracked one costs performance twice over. The roll is no longer held square, so it wears its bearings and the belt unevenly; and the air that should be drawn across the agitator escapes through the split, so pickup falls off across the width of the head. Grit finds its way in through the same gap and onto the belt.
A sound housing restores both the alignment and the seal. Inspect the brush roll, its end bearings and the belt while the housing is open, since a housing rarely cracks without taking something else with it.
