Silver, deliberately. 7017SB is the exhaust filter clamp SEBO specifies for the Onyx FELIX Premium, where almost every other trim piece is black — cord hook 7027SW, hose duct 7090SW, filter cover 7091SW at position 17 of the FELIX sheet, bag housing cover 7093SW, switch assembly 7038SW, handle release button 7082SW, handle 7164GSSW and lower housing 7173SE. The clamp is the bright accent against all of that, which is exactly why fitting a dark one in its place looks wrong on a machine that is otherwise correct.
Its work is mechanical rather than decorative. The clamp holds the exhaust filter pad square in its recess at the machine's outlet, so the air on its way back into the room has to cross the media rather than slide past a lifted corner. SEBO lists the onyx exhaust filter itself as 7095ER04 at position 41 of the same drawing, and in practice the two tend to be replaced within one service of each other.
Clips of this kind keep their own timetable. One will see out dozens of filter changes before giving up without warning, usually on a cold morning with the plastic stiffened, and usually at a locating tab rather than across the frame. With a tab missing the pad rocks in its seat, and there is nothing to adjust or glue — the clamp is a replacement item.
