Dust escaping around the bag seal on a Kirby upright, or loose grit turning up inside a cloth bag that ought to stay sealed, usually comes down to one worn piece: the fill tube. Part 190384S is the black replacement that routes dirt from the fan chamber into the outer bag.
This tube travels with the bag assembly each time the hose is pulled taut, so splitting at an end, cracking, or turning brittle with age counts as ordinary wear on a machine built to run for decades. Once it fails, suction keeps dropping even after a fresh belt and bag go in, because the leak happens before dirt ever makes it to the bag at all.
Coverage spans Sentria, Diamond Edition, Ultimate G, and G6, G5 and G4 back through Generation 3, plus the Legend line, Heritage II and the original Heritage (1HD/2HD). Check the identification plate on the base of the unit if there is any doubt which generation is fitted.
