Every filter change works this catch, and after a few hundred of them neither the spring tension nor the plastic hook is what it used to be. Part 50205ER is supplied as the complete filter safety catch for the SEBO 300 Mechanical and the SEBO 350 Mechanical, so nothing worn carries over from the old one.
The catch clamps the filter cover shut against the machine while it runs. When it will not engage, or when it lets go on its own partway through a job, the sealed route through the filter is broken and dust escapes at the joint instead of passing through the media. The failure is rarely sudden. The hook rounds off, the spring softens, and the cover sits a fraction proud for weeks before it finally springs open. Fitting the assembly rather than one molding means the spring, the hook and the pivot are all fresh together, which is the only way to be sure the slack has actually come out.
The cover has to come off to change this part, so it is the natural moment to look at the filtration behind it. Microfilter 5036AM, HEPA microfilter 5812ER and anti-odor microfilter 5425AM all suit these uprights; the exhaust inserts are 50169ER in HEPA and 50170ER in S-class, and 50216OR is the orange box that holds the exhaust filter square. Filter indicator 50209ER is the part that tells you when any of it is due.
