C708-0200 is the black dust cup button assembly fitted to the fourth-generation hand vacs, the .6 revision machines. The same handheld is badged three ways, and this button is common to all of them: Riccar sells it as the Gem (GEM-R.6), Simplicity as the Flash (F1.6), and Carpet Pro as the SCT-1.6.
The button is what frees the cup from the body at emptying time. It is a small molded piece under constant thumb pressure, so it wears flat or snaps at the return, and the symptom is a cup that sticks shut, or one that drops off on its own mid-clean.
