A grey headlight cap bumper for the Kirby 1HD, model 7320, part 161981A. It runs around the headlight cap at the front of the machine, finishing the edge and absorbing the everyday contact with skirting boards and furniture legs.

Rubber and soft plastic of this age go hard, shrink and crack. Once the bumper has split or fallen away, the cap edge is bare: it chips, it can catch on trim, and the front of the machine loses the tidy line it left the factory with. A loose one buzzes audibly while the motor runs.

This is the grey version specified for the 1HD. It presses into the original groove with no tools. Check the cap and its retaining clips while the bumper is off — a broken clip is often what let the old one work loose in the first place.
