This is the replacement HEPA filter for Bosch Formula canister vacuums, part 17007967. It sits in the exhaust path as the final stage of filtration, holding the finest dust and allergens that get past the bag before air returns to the room.

Pleated HEPA media works by loading up, so its performance and its remaining life run in opposite directions. As the pleats fill, airflow through the machine drops away: the motor note climbs, suction at the floor head weakens, and the vacuum runs warmer than it should. A damaged or badly seated filter is worse still, because anything getting past the media is not filtered at all.

Fit the new filter the right way round and press it fully into its housing. On a household machine, once every twelve to eighteen months is a sensible interval.
