This is the fan washer from a Hoover Elite motor, part 21312793. It sits on the motor shaft against the fan and sets the spacing that keeps the fan running true inside its housing.

It only matters when it is worn or left out, and then it matters a great deal. Incorrect spacing lets the fan move on the shaft, and a fan that touches its housing makes an unmistakable scraping noise and loses airflow fast. Even without contact, a loose fan bleeds suction and puts an uneven load on the motor bearings.

It fits the Hoover Elite C1404, CH50025 and U4245, and a long list of U-series uprights including the U4253930 through U4299930 models, the U4455 to U4511 range, and the U45339, U4535930 and U4537910. With a compatibility list that long it is worth checking your exact model number before ordering.
