Product details
The handle fork bail and converter plate is the bracket at the base of the handle on a Hoover 4100 SR upright, where the handle meets the body and pivots for the bail release. Part 34777012 replaces it.
Everything you do with the machine passes through this joint. When the plate cracks, or its holes wear oval, the handle develops play and the vacuum turns vague to steer: you push, and part of the effort disappears into the slop before the machine moves. The bail release can also stop dropping cleanly, so the handle will not recline to the angle you want.
Our fitment data lists it for the Hoover U4497 and U4525. Inspect the mating hardware while the handle is apart, since a worn plate has usually been working against loose fasteners for some time.
