Product details

The Hoover V-2 platform underlies a long line of U8-series uprights, and 27212053 is the motor built for that shared chassis, a direct swap for the original in every one of them. Coverage spans the U8120900, U8121900, U8122900, U8125900, U8125960 and U8126900, the U8130900, U8131900, U8132900 and U8134900 group, the U8140900, U8143900 and U8147900 group, and the U8150900, U8151900, U8153900, U8155900, U8157900, U8161900 and U8163900.

A motor rarely quits without telling you first. Dry bearings announce themselves as a growl or a climbing pitch under load, tired brushes cost the machine power or make it surge and cut, and a hot, acrid odor means the windings are already under strain. Any of these means the motor is on borrowed time.

Rule out a blocked airway before ordering, since a clogged machine can sound and feel a lot like a dying motor from the handle. Empty the bag, run a hand through the hose for obstructions, and clear the fan chamber first. If the growl, whine or smell keep showing up with a clear path, the motor itself is at fault.

When you install the replacement, clean out any buildup around the fan chamber and reseat the gaskets there, because a poor seal at the housing pulls the new motor's output straight back down. Swap in clean filters and a new bag at the same time, since running fresh power through old, clogged media wastes most of the gain the new motor should deliver.
