The motor housing of the Hoover S3865 Cyclonic canister is the shell that holds the motor in place and seals the air path around it, supplied here complete as part 002087002.
You would normally only be buying this because the old one has cracked, and the signs are hard to miss: a motor that has started to buzz or vibrate through the body of the machine, a rattle that changes pitch as you move it, and suction that has fallen away with no blockage to explain it. Air escaping around a split housing never reaches the nozzle.
With the housing apart it is worth looking at the motor itself, at the brushes, bearings and mounting seals, because getting in there is the hard part of this job rather than the parts. Confirm your model on the data plate before ordering.
