This is the replacement suction hose for the Bissell PowerForce upright, Bissell part 1609909. It runs from the vacuum body up to the wand, and it carries every bit of air the machine moves when you are cleaning stairs, upholstery or the corners a floor head cannot reach.
Hoses fail by splitting, usually at a flex point near one of the cuffs, and the failure is quiet. You do not hear it. You notice that the tools have gone weak while the floor head still cleans normally. Running a hand along the hose with the machine switched on will usually find the leak; a hose packed with a sock or a wad of pet hair gives you the same symptom from the opposite cause.
Press both cuffs fully home before you use it, or the new hose will leak at the joint the way the old one leaked in the middle.
