Kirby Axle Ratchet Spring - Part 1331A

Part 1331A is the small ratchet lock spring that rides on a Kirby's axle and keeps the handle-tilt ratchet engaged. When this spring stretches or snaps, the handle no longer locks upright or drops out of its cleaning positions mid-stroke; a fresh spring restores the positive click and hold the ratchet is supposed to give.

Kirby kept the same ratchet design on the axle for decades, so one spring covers an unusually long run of machines: the 505 and 516 through 562, the Dual Sanitronic 50 and 80, the Classic 1CR, Classic Omega 1CB and Classic III 2CB, the Tradition, Heritage I and II, the Legend and Legend II, and every Generation-series upright from the G3 through the Ultimate G, Diamond Edition and Sentria. It installs at the wheel/axle assembly with basic hand tools; keep the old spring until the new one is seated so you can match its orientation.
