Need to return an item? We’re happy to help. Eligible items may be returned by requesting authorization within 35 days of delivery. Once approved, your return must reach us within 21 days.
Return eligibility
Items must be unused, in new condition, and include their original packaging and all accessories. Machines that use water cannot be returned once unboxed, unless defective upon arrival.
Shipping and refunds
For non-defective returns, customers cover return shipping. Original shipping charges are nonrefundable. If your order included free shipping, our actual outbound shipping cost will be deducted from your refund. Eligible returns have no restocking fee.

A handle that refuses to stay locked upright, or one that drops out of its working position partway through a pass, usually means the small ratchet lock spring riding on the axle has stretched out or broken. Part 1331A is the replacement, bringing back the firm click and hold the ratchet mechanism is designed to give.
This axle ratchet design carried over on Kirby machines for an unusually long stretch: the Generation-series machines, Generation 3, G4, G5 and G6, plus Ultimate G, Diamond Edition, Sentria, Sentria II, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum, back through Heritage and Heritage II including the Heritage II Legend, the Legend II, Classic III 2CB, Classic Omega 1CB and the Classic 1CR, both Dual Sanitronic machines numbered 50 and 80, the Sanitronic VII, and the numbered 505, 516, 517, 518, 519, 560, 561 and 562.
Tension in the spring fades gradually rather than snapping all at once, so most owners notice the handle getting harder to keep locked over a period of weeks before it finally quits holding altogether, which means a spring on the way out often gets blamed on the machine's habits instead of recognized as a part that needs swapping.
Fitting the new spring happens right at the wheel and axle assembly using ordinary hand tools. Set the old spring aside rather than discarding it right away, so the new one can go back in the same way the old one came out.
