Product details
Kirby used one belt lifter hook across a long run of uprights, and part 144291 is it. The hook was fitted from the Heritage I and Heritage II through the Legend II, the Generation 3, 4, 5 and 6, the Ultimate G and Diamond Edition, and on into the Sentria, Sentria II and the Avalir series.
Its job is to catch the drive belt so the lifter can carry it off the brush roll for bare-floor use and for belt changes. When the hook wears or breaks the lever still moves, but the belt no longer follows it, which makes a belt change awkward and leaves the roller spinning when you meant to park it.
Because the same hook spans so many machines there is little risk of ordering the wrong one, but do check the mounting pin and the lifter spring while the assembly is open.
