This is the gray handle fork decal for the Kirby Heritage 1HD, part 174381S, the printed panel on the fork where the handle meets the body.
Decals do not fail so much as give up. They lift at a corner, fade where sunlight has caught them, and pick up scratches from years of the machine being maneuvered past doorframes. Once one starts to peel it collects dirt underneath and comes away in pieces, leaving a patch of bare fork that no amount of cleaning improves.
On a restored Heritage this is the detail that finishes the job. Everything else can be cleaned and polished, but a torn decal still reads as a tired machine. Clean the surface thoroughly and let it dry before applying, and work from one edge across so no air gets trapped underneath.
