A sealed housing around the fan keeps the airflow path intact from a Kirby's nozzle all the way to the bag, and part 119797S is the complete replacement assembly, specified for a long run of machines: the G5, GSIX, Ultimate G, Diamond Edition, Sentria, Sentria II, and Avalir, Avalir 2, Avalir Platinum.

Because this chamber has to stay sealed, even a hairline crack in it costs suction directly. The motor can sound entirely normal, the fan itself might be undamaged, and the nozzle still will not lift dirt the way it should, since air is escaping before it ever reaches the bag. A fan blade letting go at full speed is the usual reason a case cracks in the first place, the fragment does real damage to the housing on its way through.

Buying the full assembly spares the trouble of tracking down the bare case and its individual fittings separately.
