Product details
The field coil is the stationary winding at the heart of a Kirby motor, generating the magnetic field that spins the armature. This genuine Kirby field coil, part 103986, is the correct coil for the late Heritage II and Legend motor design.
A failing field coil usually announces itself as a motor that runs weak, sparks heavily at the brushes, smells hot, or hums without coming up to full speed. Because the coil sits at the motor's core, fitting it is a rebuild-level job: the motor comes apart and the new coil takes the old one's place. If you are comfortable with motor work it is a straightforward swap; otherwise any vacuum shop can fit it quickly.
This coil is specific to the later Heritage II and Legend motors — confirm you have one of these machines before ordering, since earlier Kirby motors use a different coil.
