Genuine Kirby left-hand (L.H.) axle transmission retainer, a structural clip that secures the rear axle within the transmission housing on Kirby upright vacuums. This part holds the axle in proper alignment so the drive system and rear wheels stay seated under load.
If your Kirby develops play in the rear wheels or the axle works loose from the transmission, a worn or missing retainer is a common cause. Installing a fresh OEM retainer (Part #555589S) restores tight, correct axle engagement.
