The headlight cap is the casting that holds the headlight lens and bulb at the front of a Kirby nozzle, and 160006 is the Sentria and Avalir version. It is also the first thing the machine hits when it meets a chair leg or a baseboard.
Chipped or cracked, it stops holding the lens square, which is when the light goes intermittent or fills with dust and dims. On a machine used under furniture, that headlight is doing real work rather than decoration.
It fits the Kirby Sentria, Sentria II, Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum. It is ordered as the casting, so keep your existing lens and bulb to hand, and check the bulb contacts while the front is apart, since a dirty contact looks exactly like a dead bulb.
