Kirby Heritage II Brush Rol...

Product details

The brush roll sensor on a Kirby Heritage II is held in its seat by one small screw, and part 605989 is that screw. It is a fastener on its own, not an assembly, and it is what you order when the original has stripped, backed out, or gone missing during a belt or brush roll service.

You notice a missing or stripped sensor screw as a rattle in the nozzle and a sensor that has drifted out of position, because nothing is holding it square in its seat any more. Hunting for a substitute in a parts drawer usually ends with an oversized thread chewing out the plastic boss it lives in.

Start it by hand so it follows the original thread, then snug it down and no further. Check the sensor sits flush before you run the machine.
