Part 111214 is the scuff plate for Kirby's Avalir series, fitting the Avalir, Avalir 2 and Avalir Platinum. It runs along the leading edge of the nozzle, where the vacuum makes contact with baseboards, table legs and door frames on every pass.
That gives it a finite life. Repeated contact wears it thin, and a hard knock can crack it outright. A damaged plate leaves the nozzle housing exposed to the same impacts, and the rough broken edge starts scuffing the very surfaces it was fitted to protect.
The new plate goes onto the original mounting for a direct swap. If you have been leaving marks along the skirting, look at the plate before assuming the machine is at fault; it is usually the first thing to check on an Avalir with a few years on it.
