Air intake guard for the Kirby Sentria II, part 224212. It is the screen over the fan intake, holding anything larger than dust out of the fan chamber while letting the machine's airflow through unimpeded.
This is a part worth replacing the moment it is cracked or missing. The Kirby's fan sits directly behind it, and a coin, a screw or a stray plastic brick that gets past a broken guard does not simply pass through - it hits the fan and takes it, and sometimes the motor, with it.
