Part 558412S is the neutral/drive pedal for the Kirby Sentria II. It is the foot control at the back of the base that decides whether the transmission is driving the wheels or sitting in neutral so you can move the machine by hand.
Pedals crack at the pivot boss, and once they do the control goes vague. The machine may stay locked in drive and creep away when you set it down, or stay in neutral so the self-propel never engages even though the transmission underneath is perfectly healthy. It is worth ruling the pedal out before condemning anything more expensive.
Besides the Sentria II it is listed for the Sentria, Avalir, Ultimate G and the Kirby Generation machines, and it also carries the number K-558412S.
